The thing is Angela Rayner, people need nature. We ARE nature. And it's perfectly possible to create homes for people while saving homes for wildlife, including newts (who are, we might add, a vital part of wetland life). theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

Politicians love to create false dichotomies: the same conditions that support newts also reduce flood and drought risk. If you plan to build more homes in parts of the country that are water stressed or flood prone, you need to protect wetlands or face disaster.

We should be a world leader in tackling the nature and climate emergency , instead , we're a world leader in arresting those brave individuals who are sounding the alarm . . . theguardian.com/environment/20…

“Chris Packham co-founder of Wild Justice: “We make laws – they disregard them. They promise us wildlife – we get nothing. They are laughing all the way to the bank.” Housebuilders supply only half of promised nature-friendly features, survey finds theguardian.com/environment/20…

Well this is embarrassing! Looks like you aren’t open and honest because you just dropped your promise to build more social housing. It’s tragic that you don’t have the education or emotional intelligence to care about our wildlife and our communities housingtoday.co.uk/news/governmen…

Interesting piece by Martha Gill on the disconnect between protections given to human-created culture, buildings, landscapes & historical sites & that afforded to Nature & our irreplaceable natural heritage. We have a long way to go to bridge this divide, but it’s good that

Private school run in south London linked to 27% rise in air pollution. Rise caused by parents ferrying children in Range Rovers and SUVs, not using public transport. The rich cause most of the carbon emissions, don't bear the social cost. Tax the rich. theguardian.com/education/2025…

More than anything else, I feel like Rachel Reeve’s answer to the first question below reveals both the intellectual vacuity & utter soulessness at the heart of the current government. The willingness to destroy everything truly of value: nature, history, beauty & community,
