Wana Udobang's acclaimed Comfort Food workshop makes its Lagos debut at LIPFest 2024, following successful runs in Edinburgh, Chicago, Berlin, and Accra.

Drawing from an archive of Black poetry, poetics and traditions, Mahogany Browne will guide participants through innovative exercises that challenge perception and form and generate writing that illuminates and delights – poetry as a portal of discovery.

Join Jersey-based poet Kween Moore for a two-day observational workshop. On the first day, participants will explore the Lekki Conservation Center, learning to observe and listen to nature. On the second day they'll present and critique poems inspired by the field experience.

OPENING CEREMONY AND AWARDS. Our Lifetime Achievement and Special Recognition Awards will be presented at the Opening Ceremony of the 10th Lagos International Poetry Festival. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be received by Niyi Osundare and presented by Tade Ipadeola.

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s festival to next year. This decision comes as we navigate a particularly challenging funding landscape, part of the broader global squeeze in literary and cultural financing.

In the coming weeks, we’ll open applications for the LIPFest Craft & Development Lab., a new quarterly workshop series dedicated to craft and career development. Keep an eye out for the call.

It’s been an extraordinary year for African poetry, marked by powerful debuts & striking new work from trusted voices.  We'll be commissioning a series of reviews for Márọkọ́ Mag in the coming weeks, celebrating & critically engaging with new writing capturing & shaping our time.

Márọkọ́ Mag We’re also thrilled to announce that our annual Poetry Slam will now hold in March 2026, in partnership with festivals nationwide.  Regionals will be hosted in coordination with partner festivals across the country, culminating in a grand finale in Abuja.
