Segmenting those with lower incomes into one group is wrong and leads to ineffective remediations. The poorest will benefit from donations and emergency support. The next 2 segments are on their feet- our aim is invest in these groups to smooth and grow incomes for themselves.

The poor often refrain from saving. Not because they don't have anything to save or it is not benefiting them as a cushion, but because they have few SAFE WAYS to save. Banks don't qualify them and fires/natural disasters is a constant risk if money is kept at home.

Loans can be exploitative and create additional strain on someone with already unstable income streams. An investment and sharing returns is therefore a better alternative. When they make money they benefit, and so does the investor.
