This might be a bit of a rampage, but... I think it is particularly cowardly for clinicians or research based psychologists to talk to newspapers about how adults seeking diagnosis of autism or ADHD are responsible for swamping services or taking away resources - a thread 1/

This is disastrous, hideous news. NHS England are hacking back the mental health support for hospital staff. One doctor takes their life every three weeks. One nurse takes their life every single week. These numbers will now INCREASE. Victoria Atkins - please do the right thing.

Pleased to share a new preprint reporting community involvement in autism research. In Jan 2021, Autism Journal introduced mandatory reporting of community involvement. Our team of autistic and non-autistic researchers evaluated the impact of this policy. osf.io/g89w4

Let's talk about how autistic people often struggle with decision-making. By the way, if you're autistic and have wondered if your indecisiveness is related to autism, the research does support this... now you know 😊 So, let's talk about why...

Fantastic study by Neville et al. on the vital role of alone-time for Autistic adults! It highlights how solitude helps us manage social and sensory overwhelm and recharge for better well-being. liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/au… Aspect Research Centre for Autism Practice - ARCAP

Is youth #mentalhealth really worse today than it was decades ago? Prof. Emily Simonoff spoke to New Scientist following the publication of a new Lancet Commission finding young people’s mental health “has entered a dangerous phase”. #IoPPNInTheNews bit.ly/3AkYnYK

"I was trying to pursue an autism diagnosis, but the practitioner told me I can't be autistic because I’m able to give eye contact." I hear this a lot, and it frustrates me because not only is it untrue… if a practitioner is saying this, it's a major red flag... 1/10
