Couldn't be more proud of or angry for the courageous journalists who agreed to join this suit. Not only are they going public, they are standing up for all of the other women and reporters of color in our newsroom that Alden refuses to make whole.

All seven of these co-workers are outstanding journalists. To illustrate that point, just a week ago, on the same day, Darcel was named a Nieman fellow at Harvard and Christy Gutowski won the prestigious Anne Keegan Award from the Chicago Headline Club.

I worked at Tribune Publishing from 2018-2021, and the gender and racial pay gap was glaringly obvious.

A pay study I worked on that analyzed 384 editorial employees pay found that the median pay for Black women was 22.5% less than white men companywide.

Our colleagues who are suing Tribune over wage discrimination are some of the bravest folks I know. @ctguild told the company ages ago about outrageous pay gaps and they gaslit our workers while refusing to fix it. I stand with our journalists today/always washingtonpost.com/style/media/20…
