'Movies should have a shape, just like a sculpture, a table, or a person, rather than being the equivalent of a sleeve of cake icing that's open at both ends and leaks everywhere. Shape is at odds with the idea of 'content.''

The more you watch making-of documentaries or listen to oral histories **produced decades after the production** the more you slowly realize that nearly every big action movie filmed in the 70's and 80's was a death trap.

I’m convinced the movie poster is just rage bait and should be treated as such (ie ignored) but the gag is if they were really wedded to crap AI they shoulda taken a page from “The Hunter” and just had a buncha cars divebombing from the parking levels into the river

This is fascinating to me because modern textile science means we can replicate the look and feel of lots of materials that were once only natural. Fake silk. Fake cotton. Fake wool. Fake leather. But not fake feathers.

We did feathers in conservation class tonight (also baleen, horn, quills, tortoiseshell, and hair) which reminded me of this tweet. There are no fake feathers. There are feathers with fake labels. But we can’t facsimile a real-feeling fake feather yet.

This is both a thread for why I'm angry Sydette has to crowdfund and an attempt to get you to donate.

If I'm tired I can only imagine how Sydette feels. 🧵

Illinois recently passed one wrt financial compensation, which really feels like the bare minimum because to your point it doesn’t address their wellbeing, and even the money stuff doesn’t have any enforcement apparatus

I don’t know what the rules are in the U.S. but in a very general sense this is concerning because it assumes people only file lawsuits to get top dollar … rather than on principle or to get information on record or to effect change
