45% of children in Manchester are growing up in poverty. This should shame us in a country like ours. Good to see from Gordon Brown - The The Labour Party Child Poverty task force has the chance to make a real difference to the lives of many when it announces its plan.
Congratulations to Councillor Cllr Murtaza Iqbal - unanimously re-selected tonight for the local 2026 Election.
The heartbreaking moment when you or your family member gets the devastating news of terminal illness, the last thing you need is to worry about money & bills. So we are exempting people their families from council tax. Thanks to Marie Curie for championing ending poverty.
This week we had a fantastic and energising LGA conference in Liverpool. Great to hear the work of Angela Rayner Jim McMahon MP Wes Streeting Catherine McKinnell MP & more to transform Britain Inspiring to see the great work of LGA Labour Councils making a difference across the country
Good advice drop in this morning at Burnage Library - you can reach Burnage Labour Councillors anytime. Great to see the library so busy - don’t forget they have their summer fair this afternoon 🎈 🍰

Manchester is building more new social, council, and genuinely affordable housing than for over a decade.🏡 These low carbon homes in sustainable communities are a vital part of our delivery as a Manchester Labour 🐝 Council.🏘 Great progress, lots more to do.🏗
Labour Loc Gov never stops! LGA Labour Leader Bev Craig gave evidence to Devo Bill Com, then met new MHCLG team-SoS Steve Reed, Minister Alison McGovern and Miatta Fahnbulleh. We look forward to working with them to deliver for our communities & continue the work to rebuild councils 🌹
We are proud to announce a new three-year partnership with the Royal British Legion In the run up to Remembrance Sunday, we will be working with the RBL to display poppies in communities to honour our Armed Forces and recognise the sacrifices made by our veterans. 1/2
Royal British Legion This partnership means more support, more recognition and more ways to say thank you to those who have served our country. It doesn’t stop at Remembrance Sunday, we will be supporting our communities to celebrate our Armed Forces throughout the year. orlo.uk/YQXCd 2/2
