Mediation matters but in Myanmar now it’s premature because of the military’s mindset. Need to understand the military’s motives: see my piece bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinio…

All hell is breaking out in Myanmar: police charging indiscriminately and firing live bullets at random -- with live ammunition: bloodshed is inevitable. Please see my blog launched last night for a preview and contact: larryjagan.com

Last day of February will be remembered as a turning point in Myanmar’s current struggle for democracy. Powerful appeal by the NLD’s special envoy to the UN. See my latest Bangkok Post piece. bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinio…

In my article in the Bangkok Post I may have inadvertently misled readers. MAH did not go to China on the weekend. But for anyone who read it carefully it clearly says it was confirmed. I was misled by my sources and in hindsight should not have included this speculation.

Readers should not be distract by a line at the end of my story incorrectly said MAH went to China. The thrust of the piece is a very powerful plea by Dr Sa Sa (the CRPH envoy to the UN) to the international community.

Another dreadful day as Myanmar's military maintain their crackdown on civilians. Everyone complaining that its a 'war zone'. No signs either side will back down: collision course inevitable and fear major bloodshed imminent. Please read my IPS piece: ipsnews.net/2021/03/myanma…

Myanmar’s security forces continue to terrorize the country’s civilian population. Strategy changed over the weekend but don’t expect it dissipate. It’s only going to get worse before March 27. Here’s my outline of their game plan. telegraphindia.com/opinion/injure…

Myanmar’s police and troops have been let of the leash with violence, mayhem and bloodshed the result. There is not legal basis to what is happening and it’s unconstitutional: here’s my depressing assessment (and it can only get worse). larryjagan.com/post/myanmar-s…

Myanmar’s security forces continue to run amok and the death toll continues to rise. They are waging war against the people, said Dr Sa Sa. larryjagan.com/post/myanmar-d…

Spent a wonderful four hours with RCSS chairman Yawk Serk, including a relaxed lunch. But he is strong in his interview: the Myanmar military must be held accountable for their crimes against humanity. And offers guarded support to the CRPH. Read my report In Irrawaddy.

The RCSS leader strongly condemned the Myanmar military in my interview with him. But is only giving the CRPH guarded support: irrawaddy.com/in-person/myan…

Myanmar's parliamentarians are continuing to challenge the coup leaders legitimacy. In the next few days the formation a national unity government will be announced. Now it needs international recognition and support. bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinio…

Ten ethnic armies have given the clearest warning to the junta that they will not stand by and see innocent civilians slaughtered. But the ,most import decision with significant ramifications is the formation of a Federal Council: see my analysis: bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinio…

ASEAN meeting on Saturday has raised false expectations. But what’s important is China’s support for the process: irrawaddy.com/opinion/analys…

Myanmar’s military have detained over 80 journalists. Amongst them are two close friends and colleagues at Kamayut media: Nathan Maung and Hanthar Nyein. During their interrogation they have been badly tortured while being interrogated. cpj.org/2021/05/cpj-ca…

My colleague and close friend Nathan Maung chief editor of Kamayut media has been released and will be deported to the US tomorrow. Unfortunately Hanthar Nyein his co-editor remains in detention.

Despite the need for international intervention and the universal condemnation of the violence and bloodshed in Myanmar caused by the Tatmadaw, country’s civil war is set to deepen and the conflict at an impasse. See my take: bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinio…
