#OTD: 34 years ago, test pilots Dorman Canon and Dick Balzer made the first flight of the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey at Arlington, TX (March 19, 1989). Combining the speed of a turboprop with the manoeuvrability of a helicopter, the Osprey became an instant hit. #avgeeks #aviation

FLIR systems tested aboard the F-16 in the 1980s. the A-16's Falcon Eye was to assist it in its ground attack role while the F-16 AFTI was used to test several optoelectronic systems. presently, only the F-16E Block 60 possesses a nose-mounted FLIR.

The SNCASE SE-1010 was a 1948 four-engine aircraft originally designed to carry passengers through the stratosphere. The prototype was modified for aerial photography but crashed in 1949. The few that were built were scrapped.
