This is cruelty as policy in a supposed equitable space. Covid protective polices showed gov't's can have policies of care and showed what gov't can do to help people. Neoliberals hated that revelation and are now fighting to hide that reality via austerity and worker discipline.

They knew this in the 50s! The 50s! Upper UV resulted in 90% drop in influenza in hospital. Most of us who are disabled have experienced multiple hospital acquired infections in our lifetime. I almost always come out sicker than I went in. If it can be prevented - do it!

This is horrifying and highlights why women are enraged when we hear “not all men.” The number of men who participated in this is atrocious. Others had to have been asked & declined - yet didn’t report it or stop it. Women are not safe, we’re angry … and we won’t be quiet.

Why are many people resolved that Covid is inevitable? That hospital acquired infections are inevitable? They act as though any attempt at prevention is futile. Will we prevent 100% of cases? Possibly not. But WHY shouldn’t we try? Why shouldn’t we prevent as many as we can?

Excellent article. I mask when I am in confined spaces. I never experienced physical violence but people sure stare at me. It is not okay to bully / mock / harass children who mask (or anyone who mask). We mask because we care. Eric Kennedy

Some people don’t seem to think of Covid as a thing that killed and disabled millions in the initial wave (and continues to kill thousands and disable more every week.) They think of it as a drag that inconvenienced them. I imagine this helps with the delusion that it’s over.

I’m sick of people waiting until it’s too late to start caring about Covid. People ignore my warnings for YEARS and then come to me when they realize they’re chronically ill. They always beg for a fix. They plead for reassurance they won’t be “as bad” as me. Its exhausting.

Another study about long covid in kids retracted because they underestimated the prevalence. Kids are NOT immune to long covid. They’re not being protected in schools or public places. They lack agency to make their own decisions - the grown ups MUST fight for them.

Medical misogyny strikes again. Doctors who treated Gisele could have helped her figure out what was happening. They could have helped her get out of a dangerous situation. They could have LISTENED. Instead they dismissed her as hysterical. Back into the hands of her rapist.
