On this day in 2019, A Strange Loop opened at Playwright Horizons. Almost exactly three years later, it won the Tony for Best Musical. At the Lyceum Theatre, it is an intricate tale of a black, queer writer creating a musical about a black, queer writer creating a musical.

The second annual Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth concert will be in Times Square at noon tomorrow! Honoring Tony winners Leslie Uggams and Ben Vereen, this concert is part of the “Black to Broadway” Initiative started by The Broadway League.
