Honoured to be asked by Common Ground in The Lodge to launch The Early Writings of James Connolly 1889-1898 by Conor McCabe published by Iskra Books last week. It gives great insight into Connolly's warmth and humanity in particular. Launch highlight was Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin singing 'James Connolly'

I was so honoured to be asked by my secondary school history teacher Chris Lawlor to launch his brilliant new book about the Irish revolutionary Robert Barton last night. Barton is a fascinating figure and is excellently served by Chris's scholarship.

Happy Pride to all celebrating in Dublin today. Pride is also a protest and today we remember Oscar Wilde, one of the most famous Irish prisoners in the 19th century who served two years in Reading and other English gaols for committing homosexual acts. 🧵
