He started out as a ballboy, scooping up jockstraps in the locker room. He was a GM at 25, an owner at 37. He was honest and unpredictable and complicated, but he poured his heart and soul into his team for 50+ years. RIP to an NFL original.

I always thought Irsay's reputation nationally was MUCH different than locally. Here, he was beloved. The Colts' rise mirrors that of the city. Players revered him. Edgerrin James, Dwight Freeney and Marvin Harrison ALL picked Irsay to present them at the Hall of Fame.
