A cold front will lower snow levels overnight across far northern areas, down to valley floors following the heaviest precipitation. However, this cooldown will be short-lived as more warm advection arrives Saturday along decaying atmospheric river moisture. #utwx

We almost tied the record today. 60 degrees at the SL airport today. That makes 4 days so far this month with 60 + degree temps. December 2025 now ranks 2nd for the amount of days reaching 60+ degrees. We had 5 days back in 1939.

❄️UP TO 70 INCHES of PURE POWDER has already fallen in the Sierra Nevada, with another 1–2 feet of Snow still to come today. Snow has been absolutely PUKING over the last 24 hours, with near-constant rates of 1–2 inches per hour. More than 2 FEET has fallen in just the past day

Mammoth Mountain is closed due to extreme avalanche danger after the summit picked up 75 inches of snow in just the last two days. The before-and-after from Christmas Eve to today is wild, a massive snow drift has nearly buried the 24-foot summit sign.

Estimates on this next storm coming in two waves. The first push of snow will be tonight. The second wave hits tomorrow afternoon thru early Sunday morning. Valley snow expected Saturday night. (1 inch or less)

No storms in the forecast over the next several days as high pressure builds in. That means that valley inversions will set up and we get the haze glaze. Diminishing air quality.

Northern Lights Forecast: Best viewing will be across Northern Utah. I like Coalville, Snowbasin, and Bear Lake for options. Best viewing time will be 10 PM - 2 AM. Good news... skies will be clear.

Here's the latest snowfall comparison across the state of Utah. The red line is the lowest on record and as you can see, we are following that record low line this year. The green is where we should be on average. We need some hefty storms.

Unseasonably warm temperatures with our first 70 degree reading for Salt Lake City this year. This is just a teaser of the heat wave we will be riding next week. Highs next week could get up to 80 degrees.

We did break the record for the high today in SLC. We hit 80 degrees at 12:01 PM. A little lake breeze has prevented temperatures from rising even more. Still some time to break the all-time warmest temperature for March. So far, we tied it at 80 degrees.
