The fire danger continues to increase across South Florida today with a combination of gusty winds, lower humidity and a severe drought. No rain is expected until at least Tuesday. The fire near Homestead in South Miami-Dade has exploded to 22,000 acres, only 20% contained. #FLwx

Yesterday Miami had the lowest relative humidity in 13 years! This extremely dry air combined with a severe drought continued the fire threat. The lighter winds out of the east will be a plus this weekend. #FLwx

Ultra Music Festival was pretty nasty last year with flooding in Miami and it's bringing the rain back again this weekend. There will be plenty of dry time, but expect some occasional storms. Here was 2024 when Day 1 ended early. #Ultra #UMF

🌪️ Tornado Warning for Big Coppitt Key in the Florida Keys until 4pm. This storm is likely producing a waterspout that could move onshore as a tornado. #FLwx

Key West had more rain just yesterday afternoon alone than what Miami had in the last 5 months. Clearly we're in a severe drought. #FLwx

Smell any smoke? A 900 acre prescribed burn has been going on since yesterday not far from Bonita Springs. Winds are bringing this smoke into Fort Lauderdale and Miami areas with air quality becoming "unhealthy for sensitive groups". After 10am, smell will be less noticeable.

Remember the night Ft Lauderdale got 26" of rain two years ago today? Cars floating down Andrews Ave downtown. 1,000 homes had "major damage". FLL Airport had feet of water over the runways, closing for nearly 40 hours. There were gas shortages from Port Everglades impacts #FLwx

A 12-year-old boy drowned at Fort Lauderdale Beach yesterday after getting swept away from a rip current. Check out video from our chopper catching intense rip currents funneling water far offshore Friday. Winds will be even stronger across South Florida this weekend. #FLwx

South Florida is now under an ‘extreme’ drought… even the Everglades is drying up. Check out the difference over just 2 months. #FLwx

A lot going on this weekend in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Spotty storms are back in the forecast. Hit or miss kind of stuff, not an all day rain.

This could be the drought busting rainfall South Florida needs. Several inches of rain and even a few strong thunderstorms are on the way. Here's what you should know. #FLwx #Miami

Caught a waterspout on air today pretty close to the beach in Broward County. There's also a funnel cloud behind me that I didn't notice at the time. Be on the lookout for these if you are along the South Florida coast today. #FLwx
