Today, the AFL-CIO observes Workers Memorial Day to remember those who were hurt or killed on the job. Throughout the week, union members across the country have gathered to mourn friends, family & coworkers and recommit to our fight for EVERY worker to have a safe workplace.

Today is the first day of voting at Mercedes. These workers have the right to choose their future, regardless of opposition from Mercedes, Governor Ivey, and the special interest groups within the state that fund her. It's time to put the Alabama worker first. UAW #alpolitics

Today I stopped by the field office for the New Flyer Unionization campaign, in Oxford, Alabama. While everybody was focused on the Mercedes vote, workers at New Flyer in Anniston voted in a BIG way (99% in favor) to join IUE-CWA. Life is better in a Union!

One of my favorite events of the year is the United Craftsmen Children's Shoe Drive fishing tournament. Shout out to The Valley Labor Report for the new hat while we fundraise to "put shoes on those babies' feet"!

Lilly Ledbetter simply wanted to be paid the same as her male Goodyear coworkers — and her fight took her to the Supreme Court, Congress, and the White House to sign the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. She was a true hero, and we send our deepest condolences to her family.
