The men and women of the BPPA will never forget the service and sacrifice of BPD Sgt. Dennis ‘DJ’ Simmonds who passed away on April 10, 2014 as the result of injuries sustained almost a year earlier during a shootout in Watertown with those who attacked our Boston Marathon.

More great police work. Thanks to the hardworking men and women of BPD, a Ruger Police Service Six .357 Magnum with an obliterated serial number and six rounds in the chamber was taken off a drug dealer who thought it was okay to carry an illegal firearm in Boston.

Hard to believe it’s been 5 years since the passing of active-duty BPD Officer Jose V. Fontanez who succumbed to COVID on April 14, 2020. Highly regarded and respected by all who had the pleasure and privilege of calling him friend, Jose is missed tremendously to this day.

We appreciate Councilor Erin Murphy always making it a point to go outta her way to acknowledge and thank the hardworking men and women of BPD as she did recently during Citizenship Day at the Reggie Lewis Center.

On April 15, 2013, we lost 5 treasured members of our Boston community. 12-yrs-later, we renew a promise to never forget Martin, Krystle, Lingzi, Sean and DJ. One Boston Day honors them and the spirit of #BostonStrong which steadied-n-steeled a city in the days after the attack.

Students from the Park School recently stopped by District A-1 (Downtown) on a field trip to learn about law enforcement and the young student on the right took home top honors in the category for best dressed.

It’s one of Boston’s best and busiest days. But every year there’s always one who calls 9-1-1 to call and complain about street closures along the Marathon route. If you don’t like celebrating Patriot’s Day, there are other cities that don’t.

Kudos to this Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy on his heroic actions that saved a child and her grandmother after their vehicle became submerged in water. Another example of how #CopsCountPoliceMatter!

The BPD Memorial’s Blue Flame forever burns bright for heroes lost in the line of duty like Officer Franklin B. Dreyer, 32, who was shot and killed on April 24, 1930. Nearly a century later, we take a moment to honor and remember his tremendous sacrifice to the people of Boston.
