We just asked the LTB to expedite hearing for disabled woman to require landlord to turn her hydro back on. They refused, saying not urgent. …Priorities. cp24.com/news/ltb-exped…

More than a profession, urban planning should be seen as a cultural strategy. An opportunity to restore the relationship between body and earth. In order for that to happen we must also engage with the work of imagination.

Sir, I disagree. It’s undemocratic to presume “control” over communities where we live & to prevent new populations from having homes there under the guise of lost heritage. You may assert ownership over your house not the community. Be a community steward not a community owner.

From the dangers of technocratic urban planning approaches to the long-term socio-spatial consequences of land use initiatives & policies, to “spatial engineering”—delving into the iniquitous & cruel conduct of Robert Moses is essential for understanding urban inequities.

The Region of Waterloo council voted unanimously this evening in support of the motion to explore using region-owned properties as sites for affordable housing. It’s great to see momentum for this idea!

The issue with pro bono work & fundraising being used to save the Science Centre is that it sets a dangerous precedent. I deeply appreciate the generosity while lamenting the lack of systemic levers for protecting ALL of our public spaces. Charity isn’t the long-term answer.
