In the spirit of the olden days of #EconTwitter , I thought I’d write down some notes on finishing up my first year on the tenure track (in a liberal arts setting) in economics. These will be in no particular order and kind of stream of conscious. Let’s have a convo about it! 1/N

Thought #3: In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash.

Get it in writing. I don’t care how much you like your chair or dean or AVP for Faculty Euphoria, if you are told something professionally consequential, get it in writing. Memorialize it in an email if you must. 4/N

I cannot emphasize this enough. Whatever “it” is that will affect you & your career, get it in writing. Chairs change. Administrators change. Get it in writing, eg, email your summary/notes of a meeting & get them confirmed by the relevant person in authority. Highlight NB points

🚨Big decision: I finally decided to get a MacBook! 🚨 On other belated news: I will join Berkeley Economics as an Assistant Professor after postdocs at Yale and Princeton! So grateful to my advisors Pascaline Dupas Muriel Niederle Alessandra Voena Doug Bernheim and Marcel Fafchamps

Collaborations in economics across genders increased (12.5% increase of women coauthors per 100 men-authored papers) after #MeToo .

But senior researchers reduced their new collaborations with junior women by 33% per 100 senior-authored papers.
