Rich nations might agree to a Loss and Damage facility at COP27, but *they won't pay*. They have failed to meet their climate finance commitments, as they have failed throughout history to meet their promises to those they have colonised. Why should we believe them this time?

An economic system cannot be sustained if it fails to account for ecological/resource diminishment. If it is not #Sustainable ... it will collpase.

The richest 1% have already blown their fair share of the 1.5°C carbon budget six times over. They are literally devouring our planet.

Every well-intentioned activist & NGO that confinues to say ‘1.5 is alive’ is providing cover for the countries (& fossil fuel companies) that have in actuality killed it. We will make no progress until we are willing to call out in plain language those who’ve killed 1.5. #COP27

Really struggling today with the enormity of convincing people that we are at unsustainable scale & need #degrowth on a huge level to survive. Everyone so wedded to growth & willing to believe economic growth & sustainability can co-exist. ... I don't know what more I can do.

There is no news catastrophic enough that it cannot be downplayed to the point of irrelevance or ignored completely if it threatens fossil fuelled business as usual. Which is why no one I meet is aware the UN Secretary General has warned of global food shortages next year.
