📢📢 URGENT: Sue is a Black disabled migrant PhD student & mother in complaint against an abusive supervisor. Now Newcastle University is reporting her to the Home Office in retaliation, fully knowing she suffers from terminal, life & death Stage 5 kidney disease 🧵

Imagine if the government spent as much time, money and effort on saving the NHS as they did demonising asylum seekers and their awful Rwanda scheme.

The prime minister boasted last night that doctors were offered more than nurses.

Says all you need to know about the contempt he feels towards a 90% female profession.

As the Rwanda Bill becomes law, the Royal College of Nursing will continue to oppose the government’s approach to asylum on medical, ethical and humanitarian grounds.

…🧐Fact check
❌50k more nurses? 1000s of nursing vacancies unfilled.
❌Waiting lists down 5 months in a row? Yet higher than when the pledge was made.
❌Pay disputes settled? Yet nursing left out in the cold.

Hardly a year to be proud of - nursing & patients deserve better.

With voting on the Rwanda bill scheduled in Parliament today, we reiterate that it represents a backwards step in asylum and human rights policy and once more call upon the UK government to abandon the bill in its entirety.

‘Despite GB News often platforming racists and conspiracy theorists, and facing record numbers of Ofcom investigations, more than £1 million of UK taxpayer money has been spent on almost 10,500 ads since the channel launched in summer 2021.’

The Cass review isn't some 'evidence based' sensible report.

It's a straight up transphobic and conservative document.

Within it it talks about 'girls toys and boys toys', and the need to restrict transitioning for over 25's.

Shameful that Labour wants to adopt it

As the Cass review is published, my thoughts are with the trans community.

Young trans people already face huge barriers to healthcare, including years-long waiting lists.

Their health and wellbeing should not be a front in a toxic culture war.

If I'm being hyperbolic in saying that Starmer's Labour are no better than the Tories, then why do him & Reeves keep banging on about embracing Thatcherite economics? 🤨

Rather than tearing families apart to score political points, ministers should:

- ensure international recruitment is done ethically
- support overseas staff to feel welcome and be free from exploitation
- realise that investment, not anti-migrant politics, is best for patients
