We were at the Spin Boldak border of #Afghanistan and Pakistan last week to distribute blankets and tarpaulin sheets to female returnees to help them and their families comfortably settle into their shelters on their return during the winter season.

The 2021 #Afghanistan Midwifery report says the country needs 18000 new midwives to meet the demand for skilled health workers. UNFPA supports this effort through the Community Midwifery Education, which provides midwifery training to young women to serve their own communities.

UNFPA Afghanistan reached more than 390,000 people with maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health care through 434 service delivery points across the country in October 2022. We are able to do this through the continued support of our donors and partners on the ground.

Snowfall in #Afghanistan's hard-to-reach areas increases challenges for communities to receive lifesaving services. UNFPA mobile health teams brave the odds to deliver services to these areas. This year, over 1.2 million Afghans have so far received services from our MHTs.

Our #winter outreach in #Afghanistan aims to help families survive in the cold season. This month UNFPA has distributed 18,500+ blankets and tarpaulin sheets, prioritizing female-headed households. In November, we distributed winterization kits to benefit 40000 individuals.
