The resentencing hearing for 44 year old Christopher Tobar is set to begin shortly. Tobar is currently serving life in prison without parole for a crime he committed when he was 17. Today the judge will decide what his new sentence is.

Tobar just told the judge that as a 44 year old man “I realize what I’ve done, and I realize that it’s never in to take another human being’s life.”

The judge ruled that Christopher Tobar has served his time. He has been re-sentenced to 25 years for the murder of Paries Cummings and is now eligible for parole. Tobar also served 2 years for a Felony Firearm conviction related to the murder, and has spent 27 year behind bars.

A man breaks into a home in Elkhart County and steals a pet monkey. There’s now an investigation underway and reward money for information. The full story tonight at 5 on WSBT 22
