Honouring Major Peter Norton GC In Iraq, he investigated an IED blast that killed 4 US soldiers. While searching the site he stepped on a hidden bomb. Despite the blast, he guided his team to safety, saving 7 lives. A second device was found just 10 yards away. #GeorgeCross

At 18, WW2 soldier Henry Harley bravely stormed a house alone to flush out German troops, saving comrades. Hit by a shell, he lost his arm but survived: "I kept hold of my arm, which was dangling down, and managed to get back to safety before I passed out." #Veteran 🇬🇧

VE Day 1945: Remembering those who served 🇬🇧 Royal Marine Vincent Horton lost both legs on D-Day. "People were getting blown up as soon as we got out of the boat. It wasn’t a case of if you were going to catch it, but when!" He passed away in 2017

On #VEDay80, we say thank you to veterans like William ‘Rex’ Blood. On D-Day, he stormed the Normandy beaches, losing his arm to enemy fire. Rex later became a Blesma Welfare Officer, supporting fellow limbless veterans. He left us in 2020, but his legacy lives on🇬🇧🇬🇧
