Congratulations to Blesma Member Stu on SMASHING his 2nd London Marathon!

The Parachute Regiment veteran, who lost his leg serving in Afghanistan, has shown incredible determination by conquering the 26.2 miles once again, 8 years apart!

This weekend Stu is taking on the TCS London Marathon for Blesma

Whilst serving in Afghanistan, he was injured after stepping onto an anti-personnel mine.

This was following an attempt to save a comrade who had also stood on a mine.

He received the Queen’s Gallantry Medal 🎖️

Brilliant Dad and Daughter night at the The Tower of London for the Ceremony of the Keys.

Fascinating that the tradition still lives on today with all the pomp and ceremony that goes with it. Great event hosted by Blesma and RAF Association raising funds for two fantastic charities

Great to see injured Ukrainian veterans getting ready to run the TCS London Marathon

Since the start of the war over 60,000 Ukrainian troops have lost limbs.

This Sunday, they will run together to raise funds for rehabilitation and advanced prosthetics.

“I’m running for Blesma because my son, Matthew, was injured in Afghanistan and became a triple amputee”

In just a few weeks, Rena Hawkins will take on the iconic TCS London Marathon, cheered on by her son and Blesma Member, Matt Weston.

Rena is running to give back to Blesma

Reginald Webb joined the Army in WW2 🎖️

He fought in the Battle of Arnhem, helping paratroopers cross the River Rhine. Reg was hit 6 times by machine-guns, losing his right leg.

His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten. He passed away peacefully on Armistice Day 2019.

Blesma is proud to be working alongside Ukrainian limbless veterans.

Since the start of the war 50,000 Ukrainian troops have lost limbs.

Our project connects Blesma Members with Ukrainian soldiers who have lost limbs on the battlefield. 🇺🇦 🇬🇧

Gregg was 19 when he joined the Royal Engineers.

He was on a tour of duty in Afghan when he stepped on an IED. He ended up losing both his legs in the blast.

Now the Blesma Member has the Paris Paralympics in his sight.

We are proud to support him along his journey 🇬🇧

The project brings together British veterans injured while serving in Afghanistan with Ukrainian veterans who have sacrificed limbs defending their homeland.

Toby served in the Royal Marines and then the Special Forces.

His life changed in an instant when he was shot through the neck during a mission in Afghanistan.

'Life is precious, and I was lucky enough to be given a second chance. I'm trying to make the most of it now.'
