The PM refused to guarantee no teacher would lose their job due to Rachel Reeves' Jobs Tax. Now, DfE ministers have done the same. The reality is, Labour broke their promise to fully compensate schools, leading to cuts and putting teachers' jobs at risk.

Labour’s failure to honour its pledge to compensate schools for Rachel Reeves’ jobs tax will only make things worse. Far from adding extra teachers the PM & Education Ministers have so far refused to guarantee that schools won’t be forced to make redundancies as a result of their

Labour’s broken promise to schools to compensate them for their Jobs Tax means schools up & down the country are making staff cuts. Labour must put this right at the upcoming spending review & honour their word, or more teachers jobs will be on the line. rb.gy/reexdu

Schools across the country are being forced to make teachers redundant over the next couple of weeks. Thousands of jobs are on the line because Labour broke their promise to cover the cost of their jobs tax and unfunded pay rises. express.co.uk/news/politics/…

Another broken promise from Labour. They promised 6,500 new teachers but quietly moved the goalposts, now excluding primary schools. Teachers there don’t seem to count. Jobs are being axed thanks to Labour’s failure to cover their jobs tax & pay rises. rb.gy/1fr52r

Sorry, what?! VAT on school fees is now paying for HOUSING?? Are you just making it up as you go? You categorically said it would be ringfenced for state schools. So which was the lie — then or now? Schools or housing? Either way, taxing education to patch budget holes isn’t

Bridget Phillipson Education is a “big priority,” you say, Bridget? Really? Then why tax education? ❌ Over 11,000 children forced out of their schools—losing teachers, friends, and stability. ❌ Children with special needs losing the tailored support they rely on. ❌ GCSE & A-Level students

Labour Press You’re making it up as you go along. It’s insulting to the public. You’ve broken your manifesto promise on 6,500 more teachers, & the money from private school VAT (itself uncertain) doesn’t add up to anywhere near the amount for your housing pledge, never mind anything else

There must be consequences for bad behaviour. Behaviour is a major issue in schools, but Labour are weak on discipline: they axed behaviour hubs, voted against reporting violence against teachers to the police, & are prioritising one disruptive child over the rest of the class.

We can & must get phones out of classrooms & children off social media. Thank you to Lord Nash & Joe Powell MP for hosting a powerful screening of Another Way, produced by Fabio D’Andrea & starring Peter Andre. It laid bare the undeniable damage phones & social media are causing.

👏 This is an incredible achievement by Katharine, the pupils and all the teachers at Michaela. Will the Education Secretary be congratulating them on their hard work?

This is tragic but sadly not surprising from this Government. More support axed for state schools providing opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged children.

2 hours no internet today. That's survivable - but we have zero mobile phone signal without wi-fi calling. We have digital landline. In an emergency we wouldn't be able to phone for an ambulance or fire engine without running down the road for 5 mins. Not ideal #digitallandline
