The director of the Adelaide Writers Festival is the brilliant Louise Adler, a Jewish and pro-Palestinian woman. She deserves our support. What has been done by the Adelaide Festival board is an attack on not only on Randa, but on Louise and on the Writers Festival itself.

With a heavy heart I'm withdrawing from this year's Adelaide Writers' Week unless the Festival Board reinstates Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah. But am heartened that so many writers are taking a stand for free speech together. Clearly, the pen is mightier than the Board. My statement:
