The killing of two Jewish worshippers, the injuries inflicted on others, and the attempt to drive a car into a crowd in Manchester today are expressions of utter hatred that must not be tolerated in this land. rcdow.org.uk/cardinal/news/…

This #ChallengePovertyWeek, we’re reminded that poverty is not inevitable — it’s a challenge we must face together. As people of faith, we're called to act justly, speak boldly & love our neighbours. Let us stand with those struggling & work for a fairer society.

I take no joy in sharing this Oliver Ryan MP Afrasiab Anwar MBE 💙 The CofE in Lancashire (Blackburn Diocese) but in Burnley 40% of neighbourhoods are highly deprived against a National figure of 10%. Out of 296 councils Burnley ranked as the 7th worse. Lived here all my life, no authority has ever resolved poverty

I was at Manchester Cathedral today for a round table discussion on poverty - part of this year’s events marking 40 years since the Church’s landmark Faith in the City report. Its call to action remains as urgent as ever — to build a bold vision and a clear plan to end poverty.
