i think the only way to get a good deal out of a patron is for them to be dead first, they'll be bored and they won't be in a very good position to negotiate.

i was speaking from personal experience. one of the few things i know about my patron is that she's dead, and i'm relatively certain the bones these gauntlets are made out of are hers.

that's my theory so far! she doesn't like to talk about her personal life very often.
