Are you a recent PhD or post-doc who studies penguins, seals, whales in the Southern Ocean? Do you have GIS experience? Do you want to move to NZ for five years (I highly recommend it)? Please apply! DM or email questions.

Transgender Awareness Week runs from 13-19 November each year & leads up to Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) on November 20, which commemorates victims of transphobic violence. At this time it is all the more important to support the Trans & Non-binary community. #LGBTQIA

Anyone know what this is? Found in a rockpool on the Shiant isles, about 2-3cm across and pulsed occasionally (not attached to the substrate). #jellyfish #cnidaria #marinebiology #marineinvertebrates

Had an absolutely fantastic time visiting the #Shiants with NatureScot Got to see many beautiful seabirds, experience these amazing islands, and worked with some fantastic people. And it's wonderful being able to contribute to vital seabird survey data. Feeling so lucky!

Seabirds, such as kittiwakes, gannets, and puffins, are key indicators of marine health. Paulo Bessa has spent the past week as part of a NatureScot team surveying seabird populations on the Shiant Isles. In today’s blog he explains why. #WorldOceansDay orlo.uk/Yrc8o
