RCT introduction of a pollution market in Surat, Gujarat. Pollution fell by 20–30%, and efficiently β€” gains came from the firms who could cut pollution most effectively. Mortality benefits are *25 times* costs. An incredible state/research collaboration. 1/2

No matter who you're voting for, there's no reason to pretend the US economy is in a state of collapse. (That's total Down Wing thinking.) Just the opposite.

2/ The strongest part of recent reports, the prime working age employment population ratio, held strong at 80.9%. This matches the highest level since 2001. Americans are hitting the grind!

I wish this was better understood and appreciated. The recovery from COVID was the first time in recent memory when low-wage workers did better than high-wage workers. All wage groups are better off today than they were before the pandemic, even as wage inequality declined.

Over in the bad corner of twitter, people are saying native-born Americans are losing jobs because they aren't adjusting for the aging of the native-born population. In reality, working-age Americans are employed at the highest rate in US history.

Conversely, it's unclear Republicans know how to effectively message "the economy of ~the past decade has been surprisingly good for pushing up wages for workers in service sectors" because it's not clear *their* core constituency welcomes this outcome.

none of this is gen ai. the first is just an app with a database table called "shelter" with a lat lon and number_of_available_beds columns. the second is a pdf file of the local zoning code that already exists. the third is an excel spreadsheet that also already exists.

"Ok, we've done "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?". "Where in the USA" and "Where in Europe" were good follow ups. But what's next? What's the untapped market?"

Prime-age working age employment-population ratio is higher than it was before the pandemic, our society is just aging. And projecting a "trend" is silly here -- once you are at full employment, we don't expect this number to increase
