Lake Sofia is the origin of the name of the region where it is located. It's an upland lake that lies at about 1,100 m. The mini watershed of Sofia Lake includes marshes, remnants of natural forests on the edges of the lake, & savanna formations.

We have set up a nursery center in Beantely-Bobaomby Protected Areas in the North of Madagascar to restore baobab trees, "Adansonia suarezensis" or "Bozivavy". Thanks a lot to #TheGlobalTreesCampaign and #KewGardens to help us for the implementation of this project.

The project, launched this week, aims to conserve at least 500 of #Madagascar’s rarest tree species, including by supporting SNGF’s seed bank. It will also increase the supply of seeds from indigenous 🇲🇬 tree species for reforestation. Thanks to Garfield Weston Foundation for their support.
