Class 8 have been finishing their prehistoric cave paintings using black paint to outline.

Class 8 had a wet and soggy visit with the chickens and bunnies today but that didn’t dampen the children’s delight and enthusiasm.

Year 5 were incredibly proud to lead our Harvest assembly today. They delivered their lines confidently and sang beautifully. Thank you for all of the generous food donations - we know that they will be greatly appreciated by families across Birmingham.

Class 7 have enjoyed taking part in role play in English today. We acted out the final scene in our English text, Ottoline and the Yellow Cat.

To celebrate World Space Week, Year 5 joined a live lesson with Tim Peake to learn about life as an astronaut. We are excited to start our new Science topic, Earth & Space, in a few weeks.

Class 8 are enjoying their ukulele lessons and have started to play some great tunes😁🎸

In English, Class 8 have enjoyed using role play to help them with the events at the end of Ottoline ready to create their own ending of the story. They thought about what the characters would say, their facial expressions, body language and the actions they would do.

Class 12 spent the afternoon learning about water resistance in Science. After investigating which shapes create the most/least water resistance, the children worked in groups to build their own boats, applying their knowledge. We can’t wait to test them out next week! 🚤 🌊

Class 9 really enjoyed their second forest school session. We listened for different bird calls and made natural bird feeders to leave in the conservation area 🦅 🌳

Today we had ‘Loudmouth’, theatre workshop group come into school and work with us. We learnt about bullying, both at school and cyber bullying and what we can do to help keep ourselves and friends safe.

Years 1-6 were treated to a fantastic assembly by Andy From Severn Trent this afternoon. The children enjoyed learning about the water cycle, how to save water and the different jobs that Severn Trent do. It was a great assembly full of fun, excitement and participation. 💦

Well done to our Year 5 dodgeball players who took part in the festival at Arden. They represented our school brilliantly and all played with such passion, determination and great teamwork.

Class 8 have been painting positive and negative hand prints like pre-historic people did 17000 years ago.

Class 12 loved working as maths buddies today to support and help each to solve missing number problems. BIG paper = BIG thoughts!

Class 9 did so well in English today writing expanded noun phrases about the Minotaur from a Greek Myth. Loving our new English unit of work!

Class 8 have started sewing in Design and Technology. Today we learned to thread a needle, tie a knot, practised running stitch and cross stitch. The children did so well and used lots of perseverance!

This week, Class 12 have been busy researching the author, Sharna Jackson. They are now creating their own fact sheets about her ready to display at Parents’ Evening and as part of our Black History Month celebration.

During our forest school session, Class 12 learnt to identify common garden birds and their songs. We then made bird feeders out of apples and sunflower seeds. It was great fun searching the area to find the perfect place to hang them.
