1/ Smart contracts are solving problems before they happen. In drought-prone regions of Kenya, humanitarian aid is getting to those who need it in moments rather than months - here’s how things are getting better:

🍀📣 Two major announcements: 1) DIVA Donate has been selected as one of the recipients of the @Arbitrum ReFi grant. 2) We launched the 4th campaign on Arbitrum focused on providing anticipatory cash transfers to pastoralist communities in Kenya ahead of drought. 🧵

🍀We've deposited $8'849.92 of the Mercy Corps Ventures funds from the Q4 2023 pilot, unused during the last two campaigns due to absence of drought conditions. This renews drought protection for 118 pastoralists for a third time, highlighting the amplified impact of our model.

🍀 Big announcement! We're launching the 5th DIVA Donate campaign, using web3 technology to deliver anticipatory cash transfers to pastoralists in Kenya ahead of drought. This season, we are thrilled to partner with Ripple. ✨ Let’s dive in. 🧵👇

2/ The campaign assesses vegetation health using the NDVI following the March-May 2025 rainy season and disburse funds to participating pastoralists if the NDVI at the end of this period suggests insufficient vegetation to support livestock during the subsequent dry season.

3/ For the first time, payouts will use Ripple’s new RLUSD stablecoin on Ethereum, showcasing its impact in humanitarian aid. Ripple is also seeding the campaign with $25k. We are deeply grateful for this support! 🙏

4/ In addition, ~$12k in unreleased funds from past campaigns (Mercy Corps Ventures & @Arbitrum) will be rolled over into this campaign. With a $40k fundraising goal, we’ll provide $75 each to 533 pastoralists, enough to sustain one livestock for six months if drought hits.
