The condition of #orangutans near coal mining areas in East Borneo is deplorable. They are skin and bones, starving after losing their homes and food sources. Economic development is fine, but economic development at the expense of the environment and other living things is not

Major flooding in #Nagpur city in Maharashtra #India today!!! This is a road, not a river!! You've got no chance if you get caught in that!! #ClimateCrisis

111 years wasted when we could have acted to avoid climate collapse but instead fossil fuel companies lied and fueled the problem and our politicians repeatedly failed to do what is needed. We still have a window to avert disaster but it gets shorter by the day. #ActOnClimate

Earth only works as a democracy of 8 million species, not a dictatorship of one. Orangutans visibly starved near industrial wastelands - formerly their homes. The revolt against the human occupation of Earth is well under way. #ClimateCrisis #Ecology

The Earth right now is far warmer than the previously measured record for this time of year. Even with a growing El Niño, the pace and size of the uptick that we've seen this year is pretty shocking.

Eating breakfast before school with my 12yo daughter today: D: Do you like running for Congress? Me: Yes, but some of my friends are really mad at me for saying I want to keep kids like you safe from gun violence. Without hesitation she says emphatically, "Then they're not

Climate change is simple. We started burning fossil fuels during the industrial revolution, adding extra carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. As a direct consequence - due to well understood physics - global temperatures started to increase. We are now experiencing the consequences.

With unusually low sea ice levels continuing at both poles, global sea ice extent is still setting new record lows for this time of year... More sea ice graphics available at zacklabe.com/global-sea-ice…

A new investigation just found that 78% of the top 50 carbon offset projects were "likely junk or worthless." Many of the biggest corporations in the world continue to use these offsets to delay real carbon reductions and climate action.

I’m not quite sure how to explain what’s happened tonight, because it’s still happening - but here goes… At 4:40pm I jumped on a train from London to Edinburgh.. It was comfy, it was quiet In hindsight, too good to last…

I hate to say I told you so, but we've been trying to inform the world about the acceleration of global warming for a while now. Call it an aerosol termination shock. Call it paying the devil his due when the sulphur clears. The next 6 months will be shocking!

It just won't stop. Canada realized its most intense episode of fire growth to date (as shown by accumulated FRP), never-mind that it happened on a date after which every previous season (in the MODIS record) had slowed to a trickle... #pyrocene #canadianwildfires

Global temperatures in 2023 are extraordinary. The various different datasets available all agree on this. We are breaking records by shocking amounts. Graphic by micefearboggis
