🐾 Dogs like Gem deserve clean rivers — and so do we. Labour’s new Water Act is now in force, banning exec bonuses at water firms like Yorkshire Water 💧 when they pollute our rivers or break the law. A government on our side here in Sheffield, cleaning up our rivers.

Great end to the week knocking doors in Stocksbridge with our brilliant by-election candidate Josiah Lenton. I taught Josiah many years ago — he went on to teach himself at Wharncliffe Side Primary and is now a governor at Stocksbridge High. From the community, for the community

The government will invest over £420 million in Sheffield Forgemasters — securing 725 skilled jobs and creating 900+ construction roles. A major vote of confidence in Sheffield’s world-class engineering and manufacturing by a government on our side

Today is #CleanAirDay 🍃 🌬️ Great to join Ballifield Primary School pupils and hear about their brilliant work raising awareness of why clean air matters. Also enjoyed seeing Smokey Joe in action at one of our STARS South Yorkshire assemblies, bringing clean air history to life

Great to visit our Urban Traffic Control Centre team in the Town Hall — the nerve centre keeping Sheffield moving. Congestion could cost the UK £21bn a year by 2030. Tackling it is all part of our plan for quicker public transport, fewer delays and a better-connected city

Thank you to MPs across the political divide voting today to give people the right to choose a dignified death. In Sheffield, we’re proud of Paul Blomfield’s work to ensure those with terminal illness have the choice to die well, with dignity and compassion.

Kelham Pride has been a huge success this year, bringing thousands of people into our city to celebrate love, inclusion, and our incredible LGBT+ community. Brilliant to enjoy it alongside Olivia Blake MP and some of our fantastic city councillors

For those of us who got involved in politics through Labour Students, it’s fantastic to see the first Youth and Student Congress in a generation. NOLS – or Labour Students as we know it – has done more than any other organisation to bring working-class young people into politics

Great to drop in to the Eid Festival at Norfolk Heritage Park this weekend with Elle Dodd. A brilliant two-day celebration for all the family – with music, rides, delicious food and more. Fantastic to see thousands of people enjoying it across the weekend.

Out in sunny Oughtibridge this evening with Ros Jones - Mayor of Doncaster and South Yorkshire colleagues, campaigning for Josiah Lenton ahead of Thursday’s by-election. A great local candidate who’s lived here 30 years—I even taught him years ago in one of the local schools!

🌍 This week we welcomed the council-backed Sheffield Energy Hub to Cambridge Street — a one-stop shop helping people cut bills, tackle climate change & explore retrofit and renewable energy. Open Mon–Fri, 10–4 — a whole community effort

I’m pleased to share that I’ve been elected co-chair of the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Panel, alongside Ruth Milsom. We’ll be working together to make sure community concerns aren’t just listened to—but acted on. We’ve kicked off #NeighbourhoodPolicingWeek by questioning

Kapital – Sheffield’s largest ever beer hall & restaurant – is now open, delivered by local independent Two Thirds Beer Co. in Heart of the City. Another fantastic addition to our transforming city centre – with rising footfall & a real buzz in the air this summer sheffield.gov.uk/news/2025/kapi…

We’re making a real difference in Sheffield—especially for the most vulnerable—by improving air quality. Since launching our Clean Air Zone (which doesn’t charge private cars), pollution has fallen and more people are switching to cleaner vehicles theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

Loads of great events have been happening across Sheffield this month. Heeley City Farm is right on the doorstep for many in my ward — and since 1981, it’s opened up a different world for kids and families. Brilliant to drop by the Heeley Festival and enjoy it with the community

Sheffield is set to become the UK’s biggest city to trial side-road zebra crossings — simple, low-cost changes that can make a real difference to road safety, especially for children, older people and disabled residents. These crossings reinforce the priority pedestrians already

We’re delighted to welcome Taylor Emmet to the Isaacs Building in our Heart of the City development—part of the transformation of Sheffield city centre. With Cambridge Street Collective, Leah's Yard & Pounds Park already thriving, there’s plenty more to come yorkshirepost.co.uk/business/one-o…
