Dingleton residents celebrate Friday’s win in the High Court Kimberly. Kumba Iron Ore’s application to evict them from their homes dismissed with costs. Great work team.

No, you are quite wrong Michelle. Just and equitable compensation might be very low if the present owners or their descendants acquired the land through a forced removal of black owners, and benefitted from massive subsidies. It might even be zero ie EWC.

But there only a tiny handful of white farmers in these countries - very different in South Africa. I'm afraid the stolen land narrative is basically correct

No research, so impossible to say. Expropriation has to be done on a case by case basis, and perhaps over time some kind of picture will emerge

People from urban and rural communities are making a powerful statement about the abject failure of land reform to date. Will the politicians listen to the voices of ordinary citizens?

Panelists are agreed that Section 25 is very clear and the ANC government has failed to implement it. People want land now and not tomorrow. Why wait for the amendment of Section 25? It hasn't been tested. Outstanding claims need to be finalised as a matter of urgency.

The in-depth knowledge of their own situations and challenges, plus the decency and common sense of ordinary citizens in relation to the land issue, are clearly evident in this memorandum. If only the politicians would listen to their voices..... #LandReform

Corrected facts about land. 1.Foreign owned land is 2% - 3%. 2. South African Government owned land about 14% (not necessarily available for redistribution). 3. Govt has spent less than 0.4% on land reform and no more than 0.1% on land redistribution. 4. Govt has never tested S25 (8).

I think Andries is happy to have people disagree with each other. We often do, ourselves. But he would like intelligent discussion and debate. There are several calls for Ruth and I to answer questions on stolen land. Will do, in time, but very busy just now.

Wandile, your blog says very little about land reform, its scale and the farming systems it could support. Surely these should be at the centre of debate at the jobs summit? How do you respond to my critique of mainstream agric economics in my article in yesterday's Bus Day?
