Delighted to share our preprint describing neuronal polyunsaturated fatty acids as protective in FTD/ALS. A fantastic collaboration with @MartinGiera @rikvanderkant Tammaryn Lashley. Massive thank you to Research at ARUK for funding my PhD and @CZI for the support!

The UK Glia Network is live - FOLLOW UK Glia Network and REPOST 😊 We will be meeting in person in September 2024 – stay tuned for more details!! Still looking for a talented and enthusiastic bioinformatician to work with us on a super exciting project on DNA damage and RNA metabolism in motor neuron disease. PataniLab All details here: ucl.ac.uk/work-at-ucl/se… closing on 9th may! UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology The Francis Crick Institute

We recently visited The Francis Crick Institute and heard the latest #MND #ALS research updates from the PataniLab, FrattaLab and more! From growing neurons ‘in a dish’, to developing potential new treatments, our researchers are at the cutting-edge. 🔬 Read more: mndresearch.blog/2024/05/30/cut…

Very excited to receive funding from Target ALS for our international consortia between Friedman Brain Institute , UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and UK Dementia Research Institute at Edinburgh. Rickie Patani, Philip Hasel , Andrea Malaspina, really looking forward to working with you all!

Glad to see our review on the use of omics to study glia in ALS led by the superb Stan Majewski (not on X/Twitter) out in GLIA! PataniLab The Francis Crick Institute UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/gl…

Our paper on cryptic splicing-controlled protein expression, which we hope will inspire safer and more adventurous gene therapy approaches for ALS and FTD, has been published in Science Magazine science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

NICE has made the decision to treat tofersen, a specialised genetic therapy for a small subset of people with #ALS #MND developed in the UK, as a general therapy, condemning it to fail their assessment. We must change that decision. Sign the petition: ecampaigns.mndassociation.org/page/151379/pe…

Great to see our paper out! A big team effort over many years, massive thanks to Oliver Ziff, Rickie Patani and other members of PataniLab, our collaborators in the Adel Helmy lab, many STPs The Francis Crick Institute and the MND Association for funding the work! …arneurodegeneration.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…
