NHS England chief Penny Dash says wasting billions ‘makes me want to cry’ thetimes.com/article/f90d6b… ⁦@DrKatie.BSky.Social⁩ - I agree with some but not the section on removing smaller GP practices - we are embedded in our local community and therefore form a ‘community hub’

General practice in Northern Ireland is in crisis. GPs have voted to begin collective action - we need an improved offer from the government that increases our core funding to avert a total crisis #GPsAreOnYourSide

‘I’m thinking about all the medical staff and medical facilities in Gaza that have been destroyed by the by the genocide by the Israeli Defence Forces.’ Yesterday Metropolitan police made dozens of arrests of non-violent protestors for holding up placards outside Parliament

Doctors DON’T have a final salary pension Doctors DON’T get their exams paid for Doctors DON’T get overtime Doctors DON’T get their equipment paid for Doctors DO pay for their own training Doctors DO pay for their own stationary Doctors DO earn less now than 2008 in real terms

It's stark that across the UK the proportion of doctors at high risk of burnout has fallen to an average of 18%, the figure for Northern Ireland is 26%. Also worth noting that this report states that GPs remain the most pressured group in medical workforce.

Alan Stout Another way to look at it = Nov to March this gives just over 2% extra capacity and I think we all know if there is a greater emphasis on care in the community this extra isn’t going to come close!

I'm only a humble ED doc but I can't help thinking that the problem in our EDs isn't caused by patients, it's caused by political failure. Last time I looked it wasn't patients with hiccups in my corridors, it was sick elderly patients who we couldn't get into a hospital bed

David McCarthy (@belfastdoctor) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It amazes me that according to this article only 2% of ED attendances were related to minor illness that could've been dealt with elsewhere (after assessment). Patients are avoiding ED and accessing care elsewhere google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.…

What this demonstrates, though, is that excellence, in the absence of unlimited time and resources, comes at a cost. It's incumbent on us generalists to push back against the relentless tide of folk decrying we "do Z better". Because what they're really saying is "do Y worse".

In general the smaller the GP practice the better the satisfaction from patients, the more appointments offered per patient, the shorter the waits, lower costs Yet …Wes Streeting is pushing for large Neighbourhood Centres ignoring existing GP practices Why? What’s the reason?

Remember the NHS before 15 years of Tory austerity.. Same day GP 95% seen within 4 hours in A&E No queuing ambulances 92% specialist treatment within 18 weeks 85% started cancer treatment within 62 days It’s not the NHS model that’s the issue, it’s our choice of leadership!
