The #SafeSickPay campaign is going from strength to strength. It was great to be at 10 UK Prime Minister for an action organised by The Centre for Progressive Change to deliver signatures and asks to the Prime Minister. The time for fixing Statutory Sick Pay is now.

Workers can’t get well soon without #SafeSickPay. Today our coalition gave a ‘Get workers well soon’ card signed by thousands to UK Prime Minister & Department for Work and Pensions To strengthen Statutory Sick Pay the Government must raise the rate & stop plans to reduce sick pay for 300,000 workers.

However, it's disappointing to hear confirmation from the Government that some employees will receive a cut to their sick pay. Some of the lowest-income employees will be affected - many key workers that kept us safe during the pandemic.

As I said to BBC Breakfast government *isn’t* proposing reform. It’s cuts. The Department for Work and Pensions has a genuine plan for reform to help more people get support, healthcare & work when they can. HM Treasury driving the opposite. Cruel & counterproductive cuts for short term savings.
