I had a decent experience as an adopted person AND I alone deal with the preverbal trauma issues: frustration, fear of abandonment, anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, ADHD, trust issues, vagus nerve hijacked, etc. I support legal guardianship. #latediscoveryadoptee #beingadoptedmeans

Self esteem is also connected to healthy attachment with one’s birth mother. Many people especially those separated from mothers at birth battle imposter syndrome etc linked to the disconnect. Knowing the cause not just the symptoms helps. #latediscoveryadoptee #beingadoptedmeans

#beingadoptedmeans at least being able to prove I'm not her next of kin when I'm expected to take care of her in old age or organise her funeral. She abandoned me twice. I'll jump at the chance to abandon her just once.

#beingadoptedmeans having a mum older than your bio grandma, being able to legally marry your bio brother but not your adoptive brother. Being told that biology doesn't matter by one family and told blood is thicker than water by the other ones who abandoned you.

A good friend of mine just found a grave. If you are a bio parent hesitating to search, stop hesitating and do it. If you are an Adoptee hesitating to search because you're not sure if they want to be found, I would suggest starting sooner than later.

So many go beyond minimizing adoptee stories and erase them. The adoptee has to deal with it. Too many ignore these truths. If the person you’re trying to help says this isn’t working why not listen? SMH. #latediscoveryadoptee #beingadoptedmeans
