Benjamin Clement, MD Erik Holzwanger, MD, ABOM-D BCM Gastroenterology If the patient has been treated in the past, I would use antigen or UBT to confirm cure. If the patient has been treated and cure confirmed prior to diagnosing GIM, I would not check again for H. pylori as re-infection is rare.

Benjamin Clement, MD Erik Holzwanger, MD, ABOM-D BCM Gastroenterology In the setting of severe acid suppression/achlorhydria due to atrophy, the H. pylori becomes harder to detect on histopathology. Stool antigen and UBT are good options as well but not as cost-effective as IgG.
So many people have asked for this protocol on GIM management over the years. We combined ESGE, AGA, ACG guidelines to make our own BCM Gastroenterology protocol. Happy it finally was published
