Welp… I-80 in the Sierra won’t be reopening anytime soon. Downed trees and powerlines from heavy snow are making it even more difficult to reopen the roadway. There’s no estimated time as of Thursday night.

83° in February. This is definitely not normal. 🌡️ We didn't just break the daily record; we shattered the all-time high temperature for the entire month of February. I am officially confused by my wardrobe choices today. Anyone else breaking out the shorts way too early?

Southern California looks absolutely incredible from space today. Everything is green, the mountains are capped in snow, and 75°F beach days return next week.

This storm is a meteorological masterpiece. I’m just in awe. As the storm explodes in intensity, it will evolve into something elegantly extreme. In the “warm sector,” a few tornado-strength waterspouts are likely 250 miles offshore. Those same thunderstorms could produce

Widespread rainfall returns tonight and continues through Wednesday morning. While it is largely expected to be beneficial, minor flooding of low-lying, poor drainage, and urban areas will be possible, especially in the North Bay. Remember: turn around, don't drown! #CAwx

Nearly 75 percent of the United States is covered by abnormally dry or drought conditions, the highest on record for late February, considering data since 2000. That will change in a big way during March as storms ramp up.
