Whatever happens the next few weeks, we can be rightly proud of FC United of Manchester 🟥⬜⬛. A brilliant team on the pitch, a Board who have invested so much personal time to stand up to injustice & a passionate fan base ready to be the 12th man. Can't wait 'til tomorrow. Bring on United!

NW Pitch Maintenance FC United of Manchester 🟥⬜⬛ Also appreciate everything you & your team have done. You've played a terrible hand brilliantly. After all that crap weather, the pitch looked ace v Hednesford & the other night. Only right it gets to see the final home game 👏

“There are major concerns about the governance of the Northern Premier League – in particular its apparent inability to preserve the sporting integrity of the competition it oversees – and whether it is fit for purpose” nowtmuchtosay.wordpress.com/2026/04/18/is-…

No VAR, no social media wankers, no millionaire owners. Surrounded by true Reds, phenomenal atmosphere game in game out. Our club, our rules. Two United's but the soul is ONE. Oh and Cantona is a fully fledged member. FC United of Manchester 🟥⬜⬛ ❤️🖤🤍HOME

"Thank you for your lovely email. Now go f*** yourself." The reply I got from the chair of the The Pitching In Northern Premier League nearly two weeks ago. A damning look at the NPL’s governance crisis, board conflicts of interest to a total lack of financial oversight. Is the NPL fit for purpose?

Fascinating piece - asks some interesting questions about governance practices below the more visible levels of the game. Some of the alleged practices regarding player payments are as old as time, but doesn't make them fair or right. Is also a likely by product of the trickle

This is one of my biggest bugbears. For all the talk of the IFR and what it will do in the top 5 divisions, the real shenanigans and legally questionable approaches to the game happen below those levels. The game is rife with people gaming the system for a host of motivations.

Mark O'Neill Yes, the issue regarding player payments may be a longstanding problem but, like you say, with wage inflation in recent years the sums involved now are significant.

Some of the stunts being used to pay players off the books are genuinely staggering. The club with a 3G pitch which hires a local school pitch to train on in order to pay expenses is one of my favourites.
