For too long abuse has been hiding in plain sight. But the numbers don't lie. We are seeing epidemic levels of domestic abuse and that's just the tip of the iceberg. We say no longer. Donate to help us end domestic abuse.www.womensaid.org.uk/donate

Every week a woman loses her life at the hands of a partner or ex. While some stories make headlines, many more go untold. This harsh reality is a national emergency that must be taken seriously. We can’t ignore the epidemic of violence against women and children any longer.

It’s time to change the narrative on domestic abuse. Too often, the blame is shifted on to victims or excuses are found to justify male violence. We must hold abusers accountable & create a culture where survivors feel supported, not shamed. Donate here: womensaid.org.uk/give/donate/

If you call 999 for a house fire you would never be asked to justify yourself or have to fight to be believed. But time and again, when women speak out about abuse this is what happens. Women's Aid are here to believe and support survivors. womensaid.org.uk/donate

9yrs ago today I left a job that was everything to me. I did my very best for every child in my care. A lot has happened in 9yrs, some unimaginable. But I am stronger than I could ever have expected & have enough fight to see legal matters to the end. Never underestimate me.

Just over 2 years ago I helped to set up a weekly toddler group. Funded with a grant from our parish council, and run by volunteers, it's free to attend, open to all, and still going strong. This thread is about what I've seen, what I've learnt, and what you need to know. 🧵

Too often, the media blames victims or excuses male violence, perpetuating harmful attitudes that silence women and allow abuse to thrive. There is no excuse for violence abusers must be held accountable. Help us fund life-saving services. Donate today: womensaid.org.uk/donate-now

🧵No sentence can adequately reflect the trauma that Gisele Pelicot and her family have faced. We stand with her and all survivors of sexual violence and abuse impacted by this case. (1/3)

Imagine missing the birth of your child because you were too busy raping an unconscious Gisele Pelicot. Legitimately one of the most depraved things I’ve ever heard.

So, today has been my second day over at Preston Primary in Yeovil, where all 60 of the reception children have helped to create this huge artwork based on the story "Handa's Surprise" by Eileen Brown. I helped draw some of the outlines but the kids have done the rest. 😮😁👍

There are always consequences for women speaking their truth when it comes to rape & sexual assault …shame MUST change sides! Every victim that speaks up empowers another after her 🙏 we must keep speaking our truth! The shame was never ours to shoulder!
