UCU members - please have a read of this open letter calling for the union to return to proper decision making structures, and to reunify and organise for a marking and assessment boycott #ucuRISING forms.gle/zdykmGrbU8EsZu…

I'm re-sharing this fantastic piece by Alexis Moraitis because it's crucial for understanding the context of the current struggles over pension reform in France

Outrageous from UCEA - insisting that unions give up on any / all industrial action for 12 months as a pre-condition for talks. Can't wait for those ballots to land...

When I first started learning Polish - and had mastered animal names but not plural endings - I used to think how nice it was that they warned drivers there could be dogs in the road

Absolutely no way I’m voting yes to employer proposals until they all - without exception - cease this behaviour AND offer guarantees of non-repetition. This, to me, is an absolute sine qua non. Get your house in order UCEA. #UCU #ucuRISING

I’ve had a light teaching term (following a punishing autumn term). Bristol University plans to deduct 50% - 100% of my pay for not marking a total of 6 essays. Bristol UCU UCU #ucuRISING

The most useful thing by far I've read relevant to the MAB and punitive deductions is the government guidance below. I don't think I've seen an example of an employer threatening deductions for partial performance who has fully complied. Share! #ucuRISING gov.uk/if-your-busine…

Controversial opinion, but I really don’t think that a trade union should have an opinion on the monarchy. What does that have to do with my workload or my pay? Would rather UCU focused on the things that really matter.

Too excited for this! My article on capitalism's secular tendency towards stagnation , the self-undermining logic of productivity growth and the critique of the manufacturing fetish will be available in French in the next issue of A-M-A'

Great to see our newest article on X - it's open access so have a look at our surprising findings - over 10% of people in China would be willing to take part in anti-Russian boycotts. Xue Bai Richard Turcsanyi

Do Chinese people have access to Russian products? Yes, they do. I took these pics last month at a Russian Goods Expo in central Xianyang, China. While nearby malls were busy, the expo had fewer visitors—possibly due to boycott calls after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

My paper with Alice Oven and Basia Yoxon has had another flurry of coverage in response to this news, which is very welcome. In particular, our figures are cited in a widely syndicated NPR article. wcbe.org/npr-news/2025-…
