ONS LONG COVID DATA: I’m still working through the raw data released yesterday by ONS revealing the prevalence of Long Covid in England & Scotland. Some interesting (& concerning) data points are emerging so I wanted to do a quick thread on what it reveals for CHILDREN… 🧡

This is an EPIC thread, written by Shadow Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson on the importance of VENTILATION in schools. She compiles all the evidence & berates the Tory Government for their despicable inaction. But what will SHE do differently if LABOUR win the election? /2

This is Shadow Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson revealing how she spoke to teachers EVERY DAY who told her the problem the government needs to solve is VENTILATION. Nothing was ever done & it’s STILL a huge problem. What will SHE do differently if LABOUR win the election? /3

Lets look at this as a picture... For every community acquired case 17 red dots, 6 people - yellow dots (this week) will get it in hospital. Not exactly infection control is it?

HeadteacherChat Anne Marie πŸ’œ Humans essentially need three things to survive: food to eat, water to drink, and air to breathe. We expect our food and drink to be clean and free of pathogens, but we don’t care about the air we breathe. Did you know that technology exists to clean the air we need to breathe?

β€œWe now have 6 YEARS & 500,000 research publications of Covid long term cumulatively harms from repeated reinfections...why why why are we STILL DOING NOTHING TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN??” β€œClean the Damn Air.” Well said, Dr Duncan! πŸ‘πŸ» I couldn’t agree more.

Prof Paul Elkington and Prof Hywel Morgan who developed the PeRSo undoubtedly saved many lives and prevented HCW Long Covid . Both received well-deserved MBEs for their innovative work Shame the Gov't/NHS didn't take up Jaguar-LandRover offer to mass produce before wave 2! #2

When the next pandemic strikes, in terms of respiratory protection: - FFP3s do have a place for short-term exposure - FRSMs have NO PLACE AT ALL - Powered respirators must be the β€˜go-to’ RPE for sessional use & care of infectious patients in all health and social care settings #3

David Osborn (@safedavid3) 's Twitter Profile Photo

These could be used way beyond the healthcare sector, including supply chain workers, emergency services etc It could keep industry, retail, hospitality sectors going & reduce need for lockdown Simpler, less cumbersome, devices for the public, clinically vulnerable people #4

David Osborn (@safedavid3) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This may sound like heresy but, in terms of Case Fatality Rate, Covid-19 was something of a β€˜pussycat’ of a pandemic compared with what could hit us in future: - Covid-19 (initially ~2.5%) - MERS (37%) - SARS-2003 (15%) - Avian flu H5N1 (50% 1 in 2 die… Think on it...) #5 of 8

The Government MUST stop dawdling. It must stop deluding itself that surgical masks are okay. It must stop listening to β€œdroplet” numpties. It must prepare to protect this nation and especially its frontline healthcare workers by investing in this technology. #6 of 8

David Osborn (@safedavid3) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If HCWs aren't well-protected against a lethal pandemic, will they go to work? Especially after the lies that surgical masks will keep them safe. Especially after seeing colleagues with Long Covid callously sacked. The Government has to regain their trust or God help us all #7

David Osborn (@safedavid3) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This paper provides more background on the urgent need for powered respirators. Submissions to the Covid Inquiry that it is too difficult to train HCWs in their use or that the technology is too complex for them were rubbish. ASK SOUTHAMPTON ! tinyurl.com/7w9rx8as #8 of 8

β€œThe NHS needs every doctor it can get. But we now inhabit a world where doctors are unemployed. It’s madness. Please, Wes Streeting, do not be the health secretary in post while doctors are unemployed & signing on with Uber shifts. You do not want to be that person. Any health

See below Wes Streeting Karin Smyth This is a no-brainer. This will save the NHS an absolute fortune. A fortune. A little bit of prevention will free up huge amounts of dosh to spend on care for other illnesses that aren’t so avoidable…
