Winter is mating season in Barbary macaques, females can develop very large sexual swellings and get lots of attention from males, as here in Apes Den group #Gibraltar #barbarymacaques Cambridge Archaeology CambridgeBioAnth

Back in the field after some time, and I was reminded how high tensions can be during mating season. This adult male was trapped at the top of a tree, with 4-5 males waiting for him to come down…. Luckily, he narrowly escaped! #primates #barbarymacaques #gibraltar

It’s not often that you’re able to get a shot of a macaque and a peregrine falcon in the same frame! Gib Nature Reserve #fieldwork #barbarymacaque #macaque #gibraltar #birding

Spring in Gibraltar this year, mid Jan to mid April and I have already surpassed the number of Blackcaps caught in the whole of last spring. Get ready for a good Blackcap spring in the UK 👍 #gonhs #birdringing #straitofgibraltarbirdobservatory
