#educoach A5: The partnership between IC and T seems crucial. When they are peers in the process, the T is empowered. When the IC is seen as a supervisor or in their class to "fix" their teaching, it's a tougher hurdle to clear.

#educoach A6: Instructional data is standard for most - benchmarks, state testing, etc... Some Ts partner with an IC to improve classroom management. Data such as counting # of Ss blurting out or % of dead time is much more informal, but can be used as well.

#educoach A7: Main impression to me is the importance of the IC/T relationship. Without a trusting and equal partnership, the coaching may not be productive.

#educoach Roy, Georgia teacher, looking to get back into coaching. Caught 50 fish with my fly rod earlier this week. Does that count as a success?

#educoach A1: As a classroom T I will have to just lurk on this Q. Not many ICs in our district, either, so I haven't heard how this year has been for their coaching.

#educoach A2: With so many quarantines, everything we have done in the classroom this year had to be something kids at home could access. Video and well-planned lessons were crucial, so at-homers didn't fall behind.

#educoach A3: Though not an IC, I suspect the versatility and scrambling you had to do sharpened your skills. It has likely done that for your Ts, too.

#educoach A4: Some say Ss lost out on their education this year. This yr's experiences is more life education than kids ever would have had on a normal year. Kids adapt, Ts adapt, ICs adapt...and everyone learns from it, even if the can't balance equations as well.

#educoach A5: Our district is making more of a commitment to employing ICs next year. That in itself is a good step, and our Ss quality of education will surely reap the benefits.

#flipclasschat Roy from Bama, mostly lurking tonight as I finish up some schoolwork. Teaching physical science and American Literature in Rome, Ga, having flipped for maybe 7 or 8 years.

#flipclasschat A1: We're about two weeks in to the semester. I don't think we're anywhere near going virtual, but it's something you have to keep in the back of your mind. One can't dwell too much on what's out of your control.

#flipclasschat A2: If the lesson is a springboard for content understanding, it seems successful. A flipped misconception is that the video is the learning. The concept isn't that shallow. The video usually kicks off the learning.

If you like musical theatre, you'll dig what the Michigan senior class performs for their freshmen. This is simply spectacular. My child was honored to be a part. youtube.com/watch?v=nfF-pH…
