🚨 Crisis in #Haiti: Violence is soaring. Half the population is facing extreme hunger, and 80% of families are cutting meals. WFP Haiti (PAM) 🕊️ is doing everything we can to deliver food & hope, but we urgently need $$ to deliver life-saving aid. This is a humanitarian catastrophe.
Life for Sahrawi refugees isn't easy. Harsh and unforgiving desert terrain means food assistance is a lifeline. This week, we were very happy to sign the first multi-year contract between EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid 🇪🇺 and WFP Europe to support our operations in the camps around Tindouf.
#Haiti🇭🇹

Food security in #Haiti is at a critical point 📈 Despite limited funds and access, World Food Programme and local partners have expanded from 3 to 16 assistance sites, distributing over 100,000 meals to 23,000 displaced people since the start of the latest wave of violence in Port-au-Prince📍
The port closed & key roads are blocked. But World Food Programme still provides a meal to 250k children a day in #Haiti 🇭🇹. This is because we’ve localized our supply chain. We work with 170 farming coops that bring fresh, local foods to 1,000 schools. A shorter supply chain is more resilient.
Here’s a look at one of the seven World Food Programme central kitchens in Port-au-Prince. Today, we plan to provide 20k hot meals to people who have had to flee their homes.
Since the start of the year, World Food Programme has provided 500k hot meals to displaced people in Port-au-Prince, #Haiti 🇭🇹. Thumbs up 👍🏽 to the Haitian organizations, local aid workers and cooks who made this effort possible under very trying circumstances. #HaitiStrong
As troubled by the hunger I saw during my Haiti visit, as inspired I was by its rebellious history & strength of Haitians. They need more international support to overcome this complex crisis. World Food Programme 5-star team staying & delivering food, cash & school meals to some 500k ppl/month.
This year. World Food Programme has provided over a million hot meals to the displaced population of Port-au-Prince, #Haitii. Since May, the meals have been 100% locally sourced. This supports local producers at a time of crisis. Pictured below: sorghum from our supplier in Fort-Liberté 🇭🇹.
